Notting Hill Pre-Wedding shoot with documentary and reportage wedding photographer Bob Owen
We’d had a few postponements due to weather when I finally met up with Caroline and Scott on Notting Hill’s Portobello Road for their pre-wedding shoot, chosen as it’s a favourite area of theirs. On this particular day, the sun hammered down and the market was it’s usual vibrant and lively self.
I’m mostly booked me because of my natural and discreet style of wedding photography and so it can be a quandary how best to go about an engagement or pre-wedding shoot that is well, staged, and still make it natural and unposed. I find it’s best to go for a walk where couples can just relax and be themselves and see how things unfold without the discomfort of being told how to stand or look. I like to influence things as little as possible for a proper reportage feel.
Scott is from Texas and Caroline from Hampshire and both are executives in London businesses. Their wedding this weekend is going to be a superb blend of English and American styles and customs flavoured with their own party spirit. Bring. It. On.
As it’s the July 4th, I’d like to wish all my American friends a very happy Independence Day too!
Here are a few of my favourites from the day.
